Vancouver It’s my favorite city Canada. Close to mountains and oceans, it’s easy to see why the city has been rated as one of the most livable destinations in the world. Everything got.
I first visited a family trip in 2004 and have been back a few times over the years, drawn to the city’s amazing sushi, scattered with green spaces (don’t miss Stanley Park!), friends, quality of life and easy access to nearby hiking trails.
But while the city is amazing and can see and do a lot, it is also big and scattered. There are many different communities and hotels to choose from. Plus, it is one of the most expensive cities in the country, so many of the hotels here are overpriced.
To help you get the best value (and have a pleasant stay), here is my list of the best hotels in Vancouver that I visited in the city in 20 years:
1. Rosedale at RobsonSuite Hotel
Located in upscale Yaletown, this 3-star hotel is perfect for travelers on a budget. The room here includes a small kitchen with a microwave, stove and refrigerator, which can save some money by cooking (I love eating out in Vancouver, but all the sushi adds up!). The room is not very stylish (think of outdated carpets and plain walls), but the focus here is more on the formal function.
On the plus side, a continental breakfast is served every morning, which includes fresh waffles (a good money saving allowance). The room itself is also large and has a lot of natural light. The bed was comfortable and there was a TV and a desk in every room. The hotel also has an indoor pool, as well as a gym and relaxing garden terrace. The only downside is the limited free Wi-Fi (one device per room). However, overall, I think it is the best value hotel in the area and a great choice for travelers on a budget.
2. Coast Coal Harbor Vancouver Hotel
Just two blocks from the beachfront, this 4-star hotel offers incredible value for the location. There is a heated outdoor pool, a hot tub, spa and a fully equipped gym (I appreciate it more and more as I get older). The bars and restaurants also focus on modern cuisine. What I really like here is that you can reach Stanley Park in a short walk. This is the largest park in Vancouver, even bigger than New York City Central Park!
The room includes a large 55-inch flat-screen TV, coffee machine, desk and truly soft bed. The smallest design rooms do look a bit outdated (I don’t think the carpet and colors are very stylish), but they are big and spacious with spacious natural light thanks to the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, the bathroom is bright, I really like it, and I have a good taste. From healthy breakfast power bowls to hearty steak and eggs, this is a great upscale option.
3. Fairmont Pacific
This is a gorgeous five-star hotel. Boasting a beautiful rooftop pool with stunning views, nightly live music in the lounge, a spacious fitness center, a wealthy spa and an award-winning cocktail bar, this hotel has plenty to offer. If you want to splurge on decade-waste dishes like cra and avocado Benedict or Brioche French Toast, they can also eat great (but expensive). You can rent a bike (or e-bike) from the concierge and they can also help arrange child care if you want. But what I really like is that the super unique thing is that the hotel has a private library and bookstore with floor-to-ceiling bookshelf on the walls. So amazing.
As for the rooms, they are stylish and large, with modern designs with light tones and soft wood trim. They also have large windows, a table if you need to work, and a comfortable bed with beautiful linen. The marble bathroom is spacious and bright, and the pressure from the shower is good. This is the pinnacle of luxury and is ideal if you need some pampering. This kind of hotel itself is like a vacation.
4. Blue Horizon Hotel
This contemporary 4-star hotel offers a lot of value. There is an indoor pool, a small gym with basics (including weightlifting), a sauna and a steam room. There is also an on-site restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast. Although not included, there are many options for all diets.
The room is large and comes with a desk, Nespresso machine, a flat-screen TV with Chromecast, Minifridge, a safe, electric kettle and a super comfortable bed. The bathroom wasn’t big, but the shower was stressful (always huge for me) which included bathrobes and slippers. What I really like is that all rooms are corner rooms with private balcony with incredible views from the bay, mountains or the city. If you are planning to eat or shop in large quantities, stay here as there are many options nearby.
5. Grandville Island Hotels
This is the only hotel on Granville Island, one of the most popular areas of the city (the massive public market is here). This is a three-star property that has everything you need for easy and affordable accommodation. There is a spa, sauna and gym and if you want to explore the area (I love cycling here in the summer), you can rent an e-bike.
The rooms here are not super stylish (think grey carpets and exposed walls), but they are large to a degree and invite a lot of natural light. The room also has a large bed, desk, flat-screen TV, coffee/tea merchant, complimentary toiletries and a minibar in stock. The bathroom is not big, but everything is modern and clean, and the shower is stressful. The breakfast was not included but it was delicious with lots of choices (eggs, French toast, fresh fruit, etc.).
Although it is centrally located, the hotel still feels like a nice retreat with a view of the pier. If you want to stay at the heart of the action, this hotel can’t go wrong.
Vancouver It is a huge city with many hotels to choose from. Whether you want a budget-friendly option or splashing on a luxury accommodation, there can be no mistakes on any hotel above. Just choose the one that suits your needs and you will surely have a great time in my favorite Canadian city!
