The charming coastal towns throughout the third week of August Long Beach, Washington Host Washington State International Kite Festivalis the largest and longest kite festival in North America.

The 2025 music festival will be held from August 18 to 24 and includes kite competitions and performances, including synchronized kite ballet and mass ascension, with hundreds of kites immediately filling the sky. Other Kite Festival activities include kite making seminars, nightly lighting kite flights, and many opportunities to fly your own kite.

When you are in Long Beach, be sure to visit World Kite Museum and Hall of Fame.
The museum has home to over 1,500 kites from 26 countries, including a 300-piece Japanese kite collection and a set of World War II military kites.

Bob Ross’ Experience at the Minnerista Museum in Indiana

In 1887, the Ball family (the famous manufacturer of Ball Mason jars) transferred their glass manufacturing business from Buffalo, New York to Muncie, Indiana.
Today, the property is a 40-acre home Minnerista Museum and Gardens.

From 1983 to 1988, Bob Ross filmed “The Joy of Painting” in one of the properties’ houses, the studio of WIPB-TV.
Now, the house is Bob Ross’ ExperienceIt is an exhibition that includes original paintings and artifacts, as well as a restored TV studio that filmed the exhibition.
Visitors can stand on Rose on his easel and even take a painting class from certified Coach Rose.
