Cindy and Don Anderson
Don and I invite you to join us for our special cruise on the Viking Sea from April 12, 2026 to 1926 next spring. We will sail from Barcelona to Rome in Viking The iconic western mediterranean We would like to let you come here. It was a great opportunity to explore some incredible places together, enjoy the relaxed and thoughtful travel style of the Vikings and be part of a group and provide us with some nice extra activities.
The itinerary is a scenic countryside and an iconic landmark. We will visit cities like Marseille, Monte Carlo, Florence and Rome – beautiful and historic destinations that are also easy to enjoy at a relaxing pace. The Vikings have free coastal excursions in every port, so you will get a great introduction without feeling overwhelmed. You will have time to explore a museum or two, drink in the sunny square, or just wander the old streets and soak it all.
One of the best parts of this trip was that we did it together. You will be part of a group, so there is a built-in sense of community – you can meet new people, share experiences, and enjoy a good company along the way. I’ll be there to offer tips, no matter how you make the most of your coastal time or little things that can make your cruise smoother and more fun.
You will also receive additional allowances to simply be a part of our team, such as discounts and boarding credit. We will host a private cocktail party on board, just for our group. Plus, with experienced guides, you will be supported throughout the journey if you need anything.
Journey: Barcelona to Rome
Day 1 – Barcelona, Spain

Park Guel, Barcelona, Spain
Arrive on your boat and settle into your cabin. You will have time to enjoy Barcelona and explore the winding medieval streets of the Gothic neighborhoods, where you will find Roman ruins, historic churches and quiet courtyards. Highlights include the Cathedral of Barcelona, the Old Jewish Quarter of El Call and the Church of Santa Maria delpi. In the evening, take a bite on Plaza Royal where locals and tourists gather to relax and absorb the city’s energy.
Day 2 – Barcelona, Spain

Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain.
Choose from a coastal excursion that explores Barcelona’s history, unique architecture and delicious culinary traditions. Stroll along Las Ramblas or the elegant Passeig de Gràcia to immerse yourself in the rhythm of the city and in the creative markings of the surrounding architect Antoni Gaudí, from the playful buildings to his famous La Sagradafamília, still on the skyline.
Day 3 – France Sette
Sète is one of those places that feel like a hidden gem. Thanks to its beautiful canals and colorful buildings, it is hidden along the southern coast of France and is often called “Venice of Languedoc”. You’ll see the boat swaying gently in the water, locals picking up fresh seafood at the lively Les Halles Market. The city is a pleasant walk – you can spend a relaxing afternoon stroll or bike along the canal from the Mediterranean Sea to the Thau Lagoon.
Day 4 – Marseille France
Marseille blends history, gravel and seaside charm. The old port is the heart of all, surrounded by two ancient stone fortresses and various boats, from fancy yachts to working fishing boats. It’s a place to walk along the waterfront, one of the most beautiful and active places in the city, with plenty of cafes and shops. If you have time, stroll along the city’s main boulevard La Canebière, then try Bouillabaisse, their famous fish stew, which is better when you sit outside and admire the sight of the harbour.
Day 5 – Monte Carlo, Monaco

Port of Monte Carlo
Monte Carlo is known for its charm, luxury and royal history and is in line with its reputation. Everything here exudes a little from designer boutiques to large yachts in the port. You can stroll through the Old Town on “The Rock” and the prince’s palace still stands with the charm of a fairy tale, where Grace Kelly once lived after marrying Prince Rainier. The view over the rocks is breathtaking, the Mediterranean stretches below, and the city is paved like a postcard. It’s a fun place to stroll, window shop and soak in the atmosphere.
Day 6 – Florence/Pissa, Italy (Livorno)
Tuscany is one of the places that has it all – outstanding art, beautiful countryside and the best food and wine you have ever had. There is something great to find with every turn. In Florence, just look up and see the huge dome of Brunelleschi towering over the city, a masterpiece that has lasted for centuries. Pizza is another favorite person – the tilted tower is even more impressive on people, and the whole miracle is an amazing place to explore. Pisa is a trinity of the trinity masterpiece (the leaning tower, the Pisa Cathedral and the Baptistery), which includes some of the best art and architecture in Europe.
Day 7 – Florence/Pissa, Italy (Livorno)
Tuscany won’t be seen in one day and you don’t have to. Your boat will last the next day, allowing you to explore the scenery and charm of Tuscany. Vineyards, olive groves and wheat fields surround medieval hills, scattered over gentle rolling hills. The fertile soil here produces the best wines in the world, such as Chianti and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Simple, honest food is at the heart of the Tuscan table – from cream cheese to thick Florentine steak, grilled on wood fire. Tuscany is often called the birthplace of the farm-to-table movement.
Day 8 – Rome, Italy (Civitavecchia)

Ruins of the Roman Empire Forum in the center of Rome
On the last day, when you arrive in Rome, your cruise is about to end. Say goodbye to your travelers and prepare for your trip home, or, if you prefer, take this opportunity to join us for an exciting post-ice period expansion to explore more incredible areas.
