The Giant Resort World Complex boasts most properties of today’s modern Las Vegas Strip resorts: luxury hotels close to major hotels, high-profile chefs, premium gaming games, and a theater that hosts headlines (Janette Jackson next month).
But that also has something that most Las Vegas hotels don’t have: Connect to Las Vegas Loop.
this Vegas Loop It is a series of underground tunnels dug by Elon Musk’s boring company. Connect the Las Vegas Convention Center Wing. Teslas drive in the tunnel to transport riders in a combination of taxi services. Loop Tunnels also connects the conference center to Westgate and Resorts World Hotels, this year it’s Encore, which makes it convenient to stay in these locations.
The cycle is primarily aimed at traffic at the conference center, but its LVCC central stop also allows users to connect to the monorail via short but sunny walking routes from the cycle. This isn’t the most beautiful trek in the world, but it can be done, so it’s useful for patience tourists who don’t want to give a taxi or Lyft.
I almost stumbled upon the loop entrance to Resorts World. The entrance is located in its shopping center with large banners, black and white types, announcing the Vegas loop. At first I thought “Las Vegas Loop!!” was an exciting Las Vegas attraction, like Stratospheric rides or LINQ Zipline.
But this is.
I decided to spin the Tesla in the tunnel, so I walked the stairs along the loop entrance and found myself in a glorious parking lot. The wall links to the QR code on the Tickets page, where users can pay by car or purchase an unlimited ride-day pass for about $12. Your phone will then display the barcode you used to scan and wait for your ride.
A few minutes later, my white Tesla pulled up and there was a human driver behind the wheel. I went in and we waited behind a Tesla or two on a gently tilted road to enjoy the green light. Michael Sembello’s Maniac is playing on the radio. This is expected, a bit like the beginning of a roller coaster.
At first it felt like a regular taxi. Then we fell into the tunnel, which really felt like a ride in the amusement park. The one-way tunnel is wide enough to accommodate cars. The walls are very close and the driver is required to lock the navigation. The pink, purple and green lighting in the tunnel makes it exciting. Once, the tunnel forked and chose the right fork without hesitation. Wow!
(Travel Weekly Weekly Aditor’s 2022 column article Arnie Weissmann includes a Time-lapse video His journey through one of the tunnels. )
It is impossible to say how fast the driver takes turns, but one driver told me that the speed limit for our tunnel was about 30 mph.
The ride at the end of the day was very similar to the first, except that there were a few Teslas waiting for their turn to drive into the tunnel. My driver explained that there may be traffic accumulation in the conference center at times. It makes sense if a group of meetings decides to set out at the same time.
Loop is now mainly a meeting tool and curiosity. The ride or taxi is faster from one end of the strip to the other (traffic allows) and is more convenient. For example, I left the MGM Grand Monorail Trail at 4:15 pm and then in my hotel room Crockford About 45 minutes later in the resort world. At night, surface level trips will still win – the cycle times vary by day and location.
But, like most things related to Elon Musk or Las Vegas, there are a lot of ambitions. Boring Co., Nevada’s Clark County approval requires 104 stations to be established with other strip clubs, downtown hotels, Alungiant Stadium and the airport. The cycle ends up to 90,000 passengers per hour.
It may also appear in other destinations, Like Orlando.
