These polar regions are almost inaccessible. The easiest and most effective way to visit is the expedition ship. For most of the year, sea ice locks the Arctic. Summer only takes a few months to melt to allow entry. Most people walk around on small planes, boats or snowmobile (winter). Personally, I find this sense of isolation fascinating.
Here whales have been swimming all the time, polar bears peeking from behind the sea ice, and the colorful community gives us the most incredible welcome. The Arctic is huge, wild and unpredictable. It’s under your skin.

I’ve been thinking a lot about my work over the years, blogging, writing and taking photos. I managed to make a career out of thin air, getting paid to travel the world and write it down. But if I were honest, I would have felt a little fantasy since the pandemic. I’m tired of being busy. I’m tired of meaningless competition. This is not good for my headspace or creativity.
Don’t get me wrong, I won’t change anything in the past. But I think I’ve grown up and gone on a new path that I’m passionate about exploring more. guide.
Visiting the Arctic and writing is not enough for me. Deep down, I long to be a member of the team again, a community. Canadian adventure Feel like family. Owned and run by three siblings (founded by their father, uncle and friend), you feel a unique connection once you step on. The same guides always come back year after year – like going to summer camp and reunion with all of your friends. The same goes for passengers.
On most trips, half of the passengers are traveling with AC. I mean, you can’t invent this loyalty.
I know this sounds super cheesy, but working in the Arctic has enabled me to implement me in a way I didn’t know I needed. It’s hard work, but it’s worth it. I think I belong here. This is an area I know very well and I love sharing it with others.
Whether I’m driving around icebergs, skyscraper size, looking for wildlife from the bridge, my eyes glued to binoculars, or hanging out with everyone at night, I’m glad when we’re steaming at the next destination. Last year I only traveled once, I saw 20 Polar Bearincluding a mother and a bear eating beluga whale. I walked on the sea ice, followed by Franklin’s footsteps on Beach Island, and fell asleep under the northern lights of Greenland dancing. I mean, come on!
Over the past year, I have considered the direction I want to take at work and I am always in the same place: Polar Travel. So I decided to try something new. In addition to continuing to write and share travel stories, I will also start selling polar travel.
