Mostar Airport unveils terminal expansion plan

Mostar Airport is preparing to embark on a long-term expansion of its passenger terminals, driven by surges in demand and increasing number of booking services. The project, planned to begin in 2026, awaits the finalization of financial arrangements, aims to address critical capacity constraints and support the airport’s more competitive long-term strategy. The plan includes expanding the terminal area, improving passenger flow and adding new commercial facilities. The awareness of the project depends on the issue of ensuring credit financing and is currently under discussion. If everything goes according to plan, construction can begin next year. “Airlines are asking us to make specific improvements, such as larger terminal space, and we are working to achieve this. Another important factor is the need to expand our commercial products, including shops and souvenir sales stores,” said Marko Djuzel, CEO of the airport.

Mostar Airport has experienced a revival of operations over the past year. The opening of the first airline base in the Sky Alps marks a major milestone, accompanied by record booking services. In addition to year-round flights to Zagreb and Belgrade, the airport also has seasonal connections with cities such as Munich, Bari, Naples, Palermo, Palermo, Bergamo and Rome, while Eurowings serves Stuttgart and Dusseldorf. Negotiations are underway to launch a new route to major European markets in 2026. Passengers have increased significantly, and the airport has become the recipient of subsidized services operated by Sky Alps, Croatia Airlines and Air Serbia.

Financially speaking, Most Airport still relies on government support. Although revenues more than doubled to 767.000 euros in 2024, operating expenses also rose sharply to about 5 million euros. Profits from regular business fell 70%, totaling more than €51.000. Subsidies play a crucial role in maintaining stability, with the government supporting a total of €4.2 million in 2024. The airport expects the ongoing support of Herzegovina-neretva Canton, the foundation of the air tanker is fire duty, and the strategic partnership with the Sky Alps will contribute to a more sustainable and sustainable operating environment.
