Felix Baumgartner, Daredevil and Skydiver jumped from the edge of space in 2012 and died at 56
Austrian skydiver and professional Daredevil Felix Baumgartner earned the nickname Felless Felix.
Herr Baumgartner is known for jumping off the Earth’s stratosphere (128,1000′ (39,045 m) – after rising to a huge helium balloon. This made him the first to break the sound barrier and hit Mach 1.25 with his own body while jumping on October 14, 2012, part of a project called “Red Bull Stratos”.
Herr Baumgartner’s record-breaking base drives his reputation. The titration zone he landed is located in New Mexico, USA. During this jump, Herr Baumgartner set a world record for skydiving, estimated at 24 miles (39 kilometers) and an estimated top speed of 843.6 mph (1,357.64 km/h). Many of his fans are known as the “God of the Sky”, and he also broke the skydiving record at exit heights, vertical free fall distance without a drive parachute and vertical speed without a ditches.
After the jump, Herr Baumgartner commented that “standing above the world” made him humble and admitted that it was “hard than expected”.
“When you stand there… you become so humble. It’s no longer breaking the record. It’s not about getting scientific data. It’s all about going home.”
