Recognized

The decision to hold an IBA conference in the Central Apennines reflects the international “Bear market community”. Salviamo l’Orso This approach has been built on Genzana, has been developed and expanded, and now has communities established in 15 central Apingin municipalities. It has reduced the threat to bears, triggered local action and demonstrated how shared spaces can bring real benefits to the community and become a source of local pride. These successes are why the IBA chose to meet at the Central Civilian Organization next year.

“We are very proud to host this major international event and the global bear conservation community is eagerly looking forward to it,” said Mario Cipollone, team leader of the Rewilding Apennines. “These two meetings will not only highlight the uniqueness of the Massi brown bear, but also celebrate the local community that lives side by side with bears and other animals every day. The collective advancement made in the landscape here shows how the re-wild circumnavigation provides hopeful avenues for people and natural ways to make communities live with large communities, thus benefiting large carnivores in both.”
