Visit Italy, France and Spain on board legend Earlier this year Unexpectedly grand. I said unexpectedly that at that time I learned that this part of the Riviera had been a winter paradise for Nordics for centuries. I understand now. The end of winter weekends are very cool, I love the atmosphere than summer, with plenty of sunshine most of the time and rich culture, restaurants, shopping and entertainment. Nice One day, sunny people even stretched out on the beach.
If Windstar was a little secret in the region for the first time last winter, there is good news: European winter will be back in the upcoming season, while Windstar’s original itinerary will sail from Civitavecchia in Rome to Florence and Lucca and Lucca, Nice, Nice, Nice, Marseille and Barcelona, offering some extended options. There are now five routes focusing on Spain, the Adriatic Sea and the Christmas season.
Obviously, I’m not the only traveler to find this kind of experience. Check”Travel with Denella Ri’Chard”, acclaimed TV series; Ri’Chard chronicles her trip to Star Legend, which aired on July 13. Watching “Traveling with Denella ri’Chard” reminds me of a fresh and novel area, and at this time I thought I thought I thought I shared five handy tips to help you experience the best of the Mediterranean in the winter.
Package? Planning layer, don’t forget your swimsuit
On my early March trip, the weather was always comfortable and the temperature was wise (high 50s, 60 seconds low during the day, warm in the sun and cool in the shadows), and despite sudden thunderstorms in Rome, it was mostly sunny. Pack a good coat (I chose a raincoat style raincoat to dry me), a wool sweater and a good scarf – I live in this thing during the day and call it “unification.” Bring a pair of sturdy shoes; if wet, cobblestone sidewalks and streets can be slippery. The nights are absolutely cool; if you are planning to go out, layer them. On board, the hot tub is always open, so stuff the swimsuit into the suitcase.
Embrace the Mediterranean Christmas tradition
If you like the Christmas markets along the Danube and Rhine in Europe, you can Mediterranean Festivalcelebrated in cities like Rome, Florence, Genoa, Nice, Monaco (from Nice takes a super admired train) and Barcelona. The celebrations include local festival dishes, artisan crafts, ice skating, music and entertainment, and regional wines. The market started in mid-November and continued until Christmas (some people surpassed). The market opens from morning to night, and the evening is the most amazing time to visit.
Your boat and your suite – more important than usual
Ri’Chard called Windstar’s star legend “a shelter of luxury and comfort” which resonated with me. On a wet morning in Barcelona, I spent some time at the famous market at La Boqueria but was happy to be back at the legend of the stars on board, curl a good book in a chair and order room service lunch. Be prepared to spend more time eating in the interior venues, but don’t be surprised if the weather is warm enough to have an open-air meal.
Your schedule can be more open and flexible – with some exceptions
Whether you visit the Marquis Museum of Art in Florence and the Vatican in Rome, you are advised to book your enrollment. Otherwise, since winter is a more laid back time in Mediterranean cities, I found that I could almost plan my day. In Nice, we spent two days there, I spent a day visiting the museum and enjoyed a leisurely, leisurely lunch at the market all year round.
Another day, I took the train to Monaco, wandering the streets, absorbing the atmosphere. For me, one discovery is a series of new “sole” tours from Windstar. I tried it in Livorno and it was the perfect way to experience the city, a long train or taxi away from the harbour. “One by yourself” brings a guide that provides maps and information that we carry out safe and reliable transportation but can spend the day as we wish.
This is the best time of year to explore the Mediterranean city
Keep this in mind: the Mediterranean winter is usually a better place for urban itinerary, rather than countryside and picturesque villages. At this time of year, cities on various itineraries, such as Naples, Genoa, Rome, Valencia, Messina in Sicily, are incredible destinations.
